Historical Highlight of Palanguia National High School
What Palanguia Barangay High School was years ago is the realization of the long sought dreams of different entities. What is now and thereafter would never be the same because of its rapid development in terms of physical aspects and students’ mental and moral advancement.
Despite enormous problems that beset its founders and pioneering teachers, its foundation was inevitable. Thus, Palanguia Barangay High School was born on August 4, 1966 after an ocular survey was conducted by board member Jagunap and the group. The survey revealed that there was a great feasibility of founding a secondary school in Palanguia due to a vital rationale that parents realized the necessity of education that affects the modern society.
Since then, notwithstanding the countless insurmountable odds, the school came victorious from those trying moments. The two pioneering teachers experienced teaching eighty freshmen. They were Mr. Baltazar Azarcon and Mr. Jesus Puig Sr. The first PTA President was Congressman Licurgo P. Tirador, the Manager of Pototan Rural Bank, who granted character loans to Mr. Jesus Puig Sr. to cover up unpaid tuition fees. The officer-in-charge of the school was Mr. Salvador Pedregosa Sr. and the Division Superintendent was Dr. Antonio Tanchuan, The old man of the barrio, Mr. Amado Busil sincerely and wholeheartedly helped the school in acquiring the school site. Those were the people behind the schools birthing days.
With only four makeshift classrooms provided by the elementary Principal, the school was able to survive. Now it has enough classrooms to house the on-going yearly increase of enrolees. New buildings were constructed through the joint efforts of Congressman Licurgo P. Tirador and Mayor Manuel Parcon and continued by the current Local Government Leaders:
Honorable Governor Arthur Defensor Jr., Congressman Lorenz Defensor, Mayor Rafael Enrique Lazaro, Vice Mayor Tomas M. Peñafiorida and the SB Members.
With the issuance of section 9 of Republic Act No. 6655, in 1988 which promulgated the
nationalization of Public Secondary Schools – Palanguia Barangay High School was converted to Palanguia National High School.
Palanguia National High School has excelled both in academics achievement and in sports programs. It has a commitment to be always on the top of other schools and will continuously improve its facilities to better serve the learners and stakeholders.
